Thesis Pop-Up Project

For my undergraduate thesis project, I created a series of images inspired by childhood memories utilizing paper pop-ups and a combination of different printmaking techniques.

The concept behind this project was to investigate the elasticity of memory as it is distorted by time, fantasy, and dreams. I wanted to explore the different ways memories might manifest — for example as fleeting colors, or collages of feelings, movements, and sounds. I used pop-ups to animate my own memories, and by opening and closing the pop-up pages, I was able to simulate how memories can be replayed over and over again.
